Underclass Yearbook Distribution

Current sophomores, juniors, and seniors who ordered a 2021 yearbook will receive their copies of Embers 2021 on Friday, September 10th. Students should proceed to the patio area just outside the cafeteria during their SSP session, and they should arrive prepared to scan their student ID cards.

In the event of inclement weather, distribution will occur in the main lobby.

Embers Announces New Partnership with Jostens

The Embers yearbook staff is excited to be working with Jostens, our new publisher, this school year. Parents are advised that any e-mail communications they may receive from Jostens are legitimate, not phishing attempts. This change does not impact our continuing partnership with Robert Taylor Photography. Embers was previously published by Herff Jones.

LAST CALL for Underclass Portrait Proof Cards

Attention underclass parents! Underclass portrait proof cards for fully remote students remain at the front security desk and can be picked up at the high school’s front entrance. If you have not yet ordered prints of your student’s portraits and are still interested in doing so, it’s not too late, but you will need the instructions and the unique PIN on their proof card to place your order. Any proof cards that are not picked up by the end of the school day on Tuesday, June 8th, will be discarded.

Class of 2022 Senior Portraits

Senior portraits are a rite of passage that mark the transition from junior to senior status, and sessions for the Class of 2022 will begin in just a few short weeks!

Sessions will be held by appointment at Robert Taylor’s studio in Stratford beginning on June 21st and continuing through August 14th. Students will make their own appointments and prepay for their sessions to secure their time slots. Full details and instructions are available here.

Update on Yearbook Availability and Distribution

Online sales have closed, but yearbooks are still available for purchase in person. In-person learners can bring payment to Mr. Clark or Mrs. Hulse to guarantee their copy. Remote learners can drop off payment at the front of the building or mail it to the school (addressed to the attention of Embers Yearbook). The cost is $80, payable by cash or check made out to Amity High School. Remaining copies are currently being sold on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The Class of 2021 will receive their yearbooks at an on-campus event in early July; underclassmen will receive their books when school resumes in the fall. Additional information regarding distribution is forthcoming.

Class of 2022 Senior Portraits Update (5-21-21)

Senior portrait sessions for the Class of 2022 will be held by appointment at Robert Taylor’s studio in Stratford beginning on June 20th and continuing throughout the month of July. Within the next few weeks, parents will receive an e-mail with a link to sign up for their desired appointment date and time. Please note that there is no charge for a single sitting. Additional information is forthcoming.

LAST CALL for 2021 Senior Yearbook Questionnaire Submissions

Senior yearbook questionnaire submissions are due this Tuesday, November 24th. This questionnaire provides seniors with an opportunity to share various information with the yearbook staff. This information—which includes a quote they feel represents them and a list of all their activities, leadership roles, awards, and other accomplishments—is then featured in the yearbook alongside their senior portraits. The questionnaire also offers seniors the chance to vote for the recipient of this year’s yearbook dedication. Because the yearbook’s publisher imposes deadlines on the Embers staff, it is extremely important that all seniors complete this form on time; late submissions will not appear in the yearbook. At this time, less than a quarter of the senior class has completed the questionnaire. It can be accessed on the yearbook website, amityembers.com.

Underclass Makeup Picture Day 11-19-20

The goal of the Embers staff is to produce a yearbook that represents the entire school. Due to deadline constraints with our publisher, we need to have all students photographed before the Thanksgiving break. Therefore, in an effort to be as inclusive as possible, makeup sessions for underclass students who missed their picture day in October will be held on Thursday, November 19th. Students will report to the high school according to the following schedule:

  • 1:00-1:30 Last names A – F
  • 1:40-2:10 Last names G – L
  • 2:20-2:50 Last names M – R
  • 3:00-3:30 Last names S – Z

Interested students should click here to sign up (so we know who to expect).

Upon arrival, students will enter through the high school’s front entrance for a temperature check and then proceed to the district presentation room via the side exit. Security personnel will assist in providing direction.

Please note:

  • Any students who are currently quarantining or feeling ill should stay at home.
  • No parents or guardians will be permitted to accompany students into the building for their sittings.
  • Students must wear masks. The photographer will let each student know when they can remove it for their photo. Students should promptly put their masks back on after their photos have been taken.
  • Students should exit through the presentation room (not through the high school front entrance).

Please contact embers@amityschools.org with any questions.
