Last Chance for Class of 2021 Senior Portraits!

Please check this schedule if you indicated that you wanted to have a free sitting for your senior portrait on campus; we have scheduled you to take this picture on Monday, October 5th. This is the only opportunity you will have to take your portrait on campus. Please make sure to keep this appointment if you want to be included in the yearbook!

Directions for Monday, October, 5th:

  • Report to the district presentation room.
    • If your session is DURING the school day, you may enter through the entrance in the rear of the cafe at your appointment time.
    • If your session is AFTER the school day, you will need to enter the high school’s front entrance for a temperature check and then proceed to the district presentation room via the side exit. Security personnel will assist in providing direction as necessary.
  • You must wear a mask. When it is time for your portrait, the photographer will let you know when you can remove it.
  • You must dress appropriately. This means either a collared shirt, tie, and suit jacket or an appropriate long-sleeved shirt. Dark colors photograph best. For more tips on how to prepare, you can check out our senior FAQ page.
  • The single sitting to be in the yearbook is free, but if you would like to purchase your portraits, please contact Robert Taylor Photography at (203) 377-0739.

See Mr. Clark or Mrs. Hulse with any questions, or write to embers@amityschools.org.

Underclass Picture Days (Update!)

Underclassmen photography will take place on campus on October 6th, 8th, 9th, and 29th. Please note a change from the originally announced dates; there will be NO sessions on the 16th. More details and a complete schedule are forthcoming, so parents and students should be sure to check their e-mail.

Photography sessions for fully remote learners will take place from 12:45-2:00 on October 8th for students with last names A-K and on October 9th for students with last names L-Z. There is no appointment necessary for fully remote students. Remote students should enter the high school’s front entrance for a temperature check and then proceed to the district presentation room via the side exit. Security personnel will assist in providing direction.

Underclass Yearbook Distribution

Current sophomores, juniors, and seniors who ordered a 2020 yearbook will receive those books beginning on Thursday, September 10th and continuing through the following Tuesday, September 15th. The books will be delivered to students in their last session class.

Parents of fully remote learners should reach out to the yearbook advisors, Ken Clark and Vicki Hulse, at embers@amityschools.org to arrange a pickup date.

The yearbook staff appreciates your patience as they work through this process.

Virtual Yearbook Signing Interest Survey

Attention, class of 2020!

We recognize that the signing of yearbooks is a time-honored and treasured tradition for seniors. Because the current situation will make yearbook signing difficult, however, we are looking into options for an alternative, “virtual yearbook signing.” Before we finalize any plans, however, we want to hear from you! Please take this quick survey to let us know whether you’re interested in the idea of a virtual yearbook signing.

Although we don’t yet have all the details worked out, this virtual signing would provide community members the opportunity to share messages (and possibly photos) with members of the class of 2020.

On behalf of the entire Embers staff, we thank you in advance for your responses, your patience, and your understanding.

Mr. Clark and Mrs. Hulse
Yearbook Advisors

Yearbook Distribution Delayed

Given the impact of Amity’s closure on the yearbook production process, the cancellation of many events and activities that would have been featured in the book, and the closure of our publisher’s printing plant, the completion and distribution of Embers 2020 has been delayed. At this time, the yearbook staff hopes to distribute books sometime in July. However, additional delays are still possible as the situation evolves. More information to follow.
